Fuel rods are the primary energy source for your reactor. They determine the base heat production, energy output, and the duration of a fuel cycle.


☢️ Fuel Types

Uranium-Based Rods (T1-T2)

  • Characteristics: Low heat, moderate duration.
  • Best for: Early-game power and initial isotope breeding.
  • Spectrum: Provides a "Thermal" neutron spectrum.

Plutonium-Based Rods (T3)

  • Characteristics: High heat, high energy density.
  • Best for: Mid-game industrial power.
  • Spectrum: Provides a "Mixed Oxide" (MOX) spectrum.

Exotic Fuels (T4-T5)

  • Characteristics: Extreme heat, complex isotope outputs.
  • Best for: Late-game OpV+ power and rare isotope harvesting.
  • Spectrum: Provides a "Fast" neutron spectrum.

📊 Key Stats

  • Base Heat: The raw HU/t generated per rod. This is multiplied by the number of rods and any moderator bonuses.
  • Neutron Flux: High-tier rods generate a flux field that increases the efficiency of adjacent rods.
  • Fuel Cycle: The duration (in ticks) a rod lasts before becoming "Spent."
  • Spent Fuel: Every rod produces a specific spent variant that can be reprocessed into isotopes or new fuel.

💡 Pro Tips

  • Tier Consistency: Reactors perform best when all fuel rods are of the same tier. Mixing tiers can cause thermal instability.
  • Reprocessing: Never throw away spent rods. The isotopes extracted from T4+ spent fuel are essential for late-game progression.
